The Website Design Process

Analyze Needs and Quote a Price

Let’s start off by having a conversation on the phone, Skype or in person about what your needs are. Will your site be an interactive brochure, a blog, an e-commerce site a directory or something else?

Some things to think about:

  • What do you want your site to accomplish?
  • What do your customers and potential customers expect from your site?
  • Do you want to manage the content yourself or have us handle that for you?

Knowing the answers to these questions helps us to give you an accurate quote of what your website will cost and how long it will take to complete.

Register a Domain Name

If you do not have a domain name, we can help you search for an appropriate domain name and register it for you. You can manage your own domain name registrations and renewals or we can do it for you.

Collect Raw Materials

We need your stuff. Pictures, logos, graphics, color scheme, movies — anything that can help us in the design process, especially stuff that you want in the actual design. Without those crucial elements, your design might not look like what you had in mind.

Another great thing clients can do to help is to let us know what you like. Give us the URL of other sites with elements that you like. Don’t just pick some sites really quick, but actually take the time to look around and find out what you like and dislike and tell us. Don’t limit yourself to your field either, elements in different websites are not limited by field. Tell us what you like about them, color, navigation, layout, expandability, movement, theme, texture, mood, fonts… anything you like and even dislike. We can’t know what you want unless you tell us.

The more raw materials and direction you give us, the better job we can do for you.

We’ll also discuss what key words do you think people would use to search for you. Basic “organic” search engine optimization (SEO) in the form of meta tags is included as part of the design process. Other basic SEO stuff like google site maps and submitting the site for a google search do not add on much to the cost. We can also give you access to statistics on our servers or get you get up with google analytics.

If you want to discuss a more intensive SEO campaign, we can connect you with one of our partners who can help you increase your visibility.

Design Template

Once we have your raw materials, we’ll craft a design for you.  We go back and forth a reasonable number of times until you are happy with the design.

Fill In Content

During this phase we fill in the content on all of your pages using content you have provided.

Tweak Details

Once we fill in your content, you’ll have the opportunity to review the site and make minor changes as needed.

Go Live

After you have a chance to review and approve the site, we’ll take the password off the site and it will be open to the world!
